Today, I took a compensatory off from work since I worked on the weekend. S was also working-from-home as he had some important personal work too.
I took rest the whole day – no getting up early, no rushing to prepare food, no rushing to get ready, and no returning home late in the evening from office. It feels so good to get some rest after the hard-work we put up in the last week. We prepared some decent food at home and enjoyed the day. In the evening, we went out and met some of our old friends from our previous office. It felt really nice to see them after so long 🙂
Also, today we booked train tickets for Papa. Papa would be visiting us in Bangalore next week and would be staying here for quite sometime. This is the first time after our marriage Papa is coming over to stay with us. Mummy had come here recently, but Papa couldn’t accompany her because of his work and other responsibilities. Also, S would be traveling for sometime in the next week. My father-in-law is not keeping well from quite sometime, and S is going to get him treated from a good hospital in Mumbai. I pray things go well and he is treated soon.
The day before yesterday, my paternal grandma was admitted in hospital. She has not been keeping well for a couple of months now. Papa visited my grandparent’s place for the festival and stayed back there as grandma fell ill. Grandma has become quite weak as she is unable to consume food. The doctors are going to keep her hospitalized for some days until she recovers.
I call up papa everyday to ask about grandma’s health condition. I hope she recovers soon and is a condition to consume food. We are all very worried for her. Yesterday, I even got a little emotional thinking about her and the moments that we spent together while I was studying Engineering in Pune. I would like to share a few of those moments with you.
When I was studying Engineering, I used to go for jogging early in the mornings especially on the weekends. Grandma used to accompany me. She would get up early in the morning and get ready for the walk. She used to wear nice canvas shoes that uncle bought for her so that she could comfortably walk. I would drive my TVS Scooty and she would ride pillion with me. We would go to M.G. road in Pune which was situated quite close to our house. In the mornings, M.G. Road is not crowded and is a good place for walking or jogging. After reaching the place, we would decide the path. She would walk while I jogged on the same path. After sometime, we’d meet up and then return home. The mornings were very refreshing and it was nice to have her company then.
The last time I met grandma was in my sister’s engagement which was recently held. She got emotional after she met me. I am glad S spent sometime with her during the function as I was accompanying my sister then. I am extending a prayer for her well-being. May the Almighty give her the strength to recover from her illness 🙂
Yesterday I got to know that my brother lost one of his friends in an accident. His friend was walking on one side of the road when he was hit by a car. The car-driver was drunk and driving at a very high-speed. His friend’s condition was very critical when taken to the hospital and he succumbed to injuries. He was the only child of his parents and was much-loved amongst his friends and family. It came as shock to everyone who was close to him.
One mistake of an irresponsible person could take the life of person who was brought up with so much love by the people around him. It might take years for his parents to recover from this situation and there might be a void filled in their life forever. But, the driver who is arrested today would probably get released on a bail and might get back on the road tomorrow. How fair is it I wonder!
A large number of road accidents are registered every day in our country. Is anybody doing anything about them? Why has the life of a common man become so inexpensive that anybody can commit a mistake and take it away? Time to think! We, as citizens, can do our bit to improve the situation on roads. I request you to please bring to attention any cases of rash driving that you perceive on the roads. Please note down the number of the vehicle and register a complaint whenever you notice any rash driving on the roads. You may end up saving one life tomorrow.
I could feel a void from my brother’s voice that was created by the loss of his dear friend. I pray that his friend’s soul may rest in peace and may the Almighty give his parents and near ones the courage that they need at this hour.
